Once again in mid-November, it is celebrated in Bocairent the gastronomic game meat and mushroom (or “pebrassos” as they are know here) contest. This year we celebrated the eighth edition and a total of 17 restaurants participated. As a main course, and binding in the competition, was the ” borreta “. It is a typical dish from the Mariola mountains area that includes spinach, cod, peppers , potatoes and eggs. In addition, contestants must present freely a dish elaborated with game meat and mushrooms. The first prize of the mandatory course was for the Zoco restaurant, from the neighboring city of Ontinyent; and the restaurant Hotel Bahia, in Calpe, was awarded with the first prize in the free course.This is a clear example that Bocairent, apart from its complete tourist offer, provides a very good cuisine full of flavors.
